Imam Hassan ''Jami'' Mohamud was born in Somalia. He memorized the Qur'an at the age of thirteen. He  received his LL.B. in Civil and Islamic law from the Somali National University School of Law, Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1986. He holds a Graduate Diploma of Sharia (M.A) from the Higher Institute for Islamic Studies, Cairo, Egypt, in 1989. And Jurist Doctor (J.D.) from William Mitchell College of Law, St.Paul, Minnesota, in 2002. He is the founder and the Imam/director of Minnesota Da'wah Institute. He also works as a Immigration Law Project Advocate at the Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis and is adjunct professor at the William Mitchell College, in which he teaches courses in Islamic Law.

    * Sharia Law Advisor to MN Lawyers

    * Lectured about Islamic Law at U.S. Judges Conference, Duluth MN (Attendees included US justices and US Attorney General)

    * He teaches Community Legal Education about Islamic Law subject

    * Board Member of Twin Cities Red-Cross

    * He teaches Several Islamic Studies Classes in Masjid Da'wah and other Islamic Centers

Imam Hassan has written several comparative papers, including: Understanding Islam and Working with Muslim Clients, Islamic Faith and the 1st Amendment in the American Constitution, Interest Fee in Islam, Christianity and Judaism, Judicial Oath Procedure in Islamic Law and Civil Law Comparing to Somali Culture, Islamic and Somali Culture in American Public Schools, Ideal Muslim Family, etc, including comprehensive studies on the US Patriot Act.
